Scotland: Castles, Horses, and Yuck!

After London we took the train up to Edinburgh Scotland. They have a lot of sheep here, we talked Natalie out of counting them (did you read the In Search Of page?). They also have a lot of castles. With the rain continuing, Natalie got to wear her Wish Wellington's. (Wellington's are rain boots and there is a cartoon with a boy who wishes when he wears them get the idea?) Anyway, she wished that she could stay in a real castle. Low and behold the Dalhousie castle (circa 1200 AD) had been converted into a hotel and we had a room reserved.

The Dalhousie castle

The dungeon was converted into the dinning room. Several suits of armor watch over you as you eat.

We went for a horse ride through the highlands of Scotland. Natalie rode on a horse (pony) by herself for the very first time. She did a great job handling that wild thing. We even rode through a river (about 10 yards wide) and by a field of sheep.

Natalie's first solo pony ride (outside of a ring), she rode like a champ.

We didn't have time to play a round at St. Andrews, even though it was just on the other side of the town. But I did get a souvenir towel.

We also passed on a portion of haggis. The worst smelling food (debatable) known to mankind (and we don't even want to think of how it tastes). We understand it is a ground mixture of sheep insides, just about everything they can't sell to the butcher. I have to stop talking about it now or I'll lose it.
